As the delay over the future of the coach of the Super Eagles of Nigeria Jose Peseiro drags on, the team top striker Victor Osimhen has given his opinion on the coach , who has been at the helm for one year, OwnGoalNigeria.com reports.
Peseiro is open to signing fresh terms as coach of the Nigerian team after leading them to qualification for the Africa Cup of Nations, but the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) say his renewal will be down to an opinion poll from the football populace of Nigeria.
While the NFF are yet to say how the poll will work, Osimhen has thrown his weight behind the coach saying he has shown that he is technically sound and capable of leading the team to AFCON glory in Cote D’Ivoire next year.
“The coach is tactically sound and he is in control of the Super Eagles squad, which is very, very important,” Osimhen told Wazobia FM Radio Lagos. He knows what he wants.”
“We have a great squad to do well, I’m proud of the team. We fight for the team because it’s a privilege to play for Nigeria.
“We expect greatness, we will aim for the trophy”, he concluded.
