Police arrest 27 armed robbery suspects in Kano

Police in Kano State have arrested 27 suspected armed robbers who have been terrorizing Kano metropolitan and its environs.

The spokesman of the command, DSP Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa confirmed the arrest in a statement issued to thedabigal.

He said the arrest is in line with the IGP order to deal ruthlessly with criminals, round-the-clock visibility patrols and sustained intelligence gathering.

Kiyawa explained that police received community reports that armed robbers are using dangerous weapons such as knives, cutlasses, and other sharp objects to attack innocent people and rob them of their valuables, particularly along Buk Road, Hadejia Road, Zoo Road, Haj camp junction, using, tricycles and motorcycles.

He said during the operation a total of 27 suspects were arrested for offenses of armed robbery and receiving stolen properties.

Kiyawa said 28 mobile phones, two tricycles, three motorcycles, 18 mobile phone batteries and other dangerous weapons were recovered from the suspects.

He said the suspects will be charged to court upon completion of investigation.
