A chieftain of the Igbo socio-political organization, Ohanaeze Ndigbo, Okechukwu Isiguzoro, has urged Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu to provide palliatives for Igbos attacked in Lagos State.
Following the victory of the Labour Party, LP, presidential candidate, Peter Obi in Lagos State, some markets populated by Igbos were burnt down, with goods worth millions destroyed.
However, Isiguzoro urged the governor to compensate the Igbos affected by the attacks.
Speaking with thedabigal, the Secretary General of Ohanaeze said: “We support Sanwo-Olu’s reelection based on our consultation with APC governors in the Southeast and other Igbo leaders, and so doing, we are using this opportunity to donate N100 million to all Igbos who lost their properties, lives, and where molested to pay their hospital bills; we will channel the money appropriately.
“We still want to tell Sanwo-Olu to support Igbos who have lost family members, commodities, and shops. The Lagos State government should have palliative for them, and we are demanding compensation for them.
“He should repay the Igbos, we have picked up the ball by donating N100 million, but we expect that the Lagos State governor whose responsibility is to protect lives and properties must ensure that he helps the Igbos to douse the tension.”
