Liverpool are thought to be closing in on the signing of the Portuguese international Renato Sanches.

The Reds are looking to bring in a quality long term replacement for Gini Wijnaldum, and they have identified the 23-year-old Lille midfielder as the ideal candidate.

According to Portuguese journalist Pedro Almeida, the transfer is almost done, and the player will sign for Liverpool this summer.

The Reds will pay a fee of around €35 million for the highly talented midfielder.

Portuguese-based journalist Pedro Almeida said: “Renato Sanches to Liverpool is almost done. The Portuguese midfielder will sign for the English club for around €35million.”

Sanches helped Lille win the French league last season, and he has been outstanding in the European Championships this summer.

There is no doubt that he’s a world-class talent who has the potential to develop into a superstar in future.

Jurgen Klopp has done well to develop young players at Liverpool since taking over at the Merseyside club, and he could help the young Portuguese midfielder achieve his potential.

Sanches will add flair, creativity and drive to the Liverpool midfield, and he seems like an ideal fit for the Reds in theory.

Klopp likes to play high pressing attacking football, and Sanches is an excellent presser.

The midfielder has played in England before with Swansea City. It will be interesting to see if he can quickly adapt to the Premier League and make an immediate impact next season.

The reported price could look like a bargain if the youngster manages to fulfil his potential at Anfield.
