Arsenal teen sensation Folarin Balogun turned down the chance to represent Nigeria at the 2019 U20 World Cup last year, Owngoalnigeria.com can exclusively reveal.
Balogun has this season proved his mettle in the Europa League with two goals in two games for Arsenal after his goal in yesterday’s 4-2 win over Dundalk.
The contract rebel came of the bench once again and made another statement of his readiness for the big time with a cool finish after assisting Joe Willock to score the third goal for Arsenal.
Eligible to represent Nigeria, England and the United States of America at international level, Nigeria made an attempt to lure him to their U20 team last year.
“ Talks were held with his parents but he has so many things in front of him at that moment. He is now a part of the English U20 team and that makes it a bit difficult. Back then he politely told us he will like to focus on his contract issue with Arsenal”, a source told this portal.
