As many as five new players have been handed a chance to be part of the Super Eagles squad for the 2021 Africa Cup Of Nations by embattled coach of the team Gernot Rohr, Owngoalnigeria.com exclusively gathered.
Rohr whose future as coach of team is still uncertain have already submitted a list of 40 players to the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) which has been submitted to CAF. The list is expected to be prune to 28 in three weeks time, a week before the start of the tournament which was postponed to this year due to the coronavirus pandemic.
We gathered the list has five players who are yet to make their debut for the senior national team in Nigeria namely Ademola Lookman of Leicester City, Ovie Ejaria of Reading, Sadiq Umar of Almeria, goalkepper Adebayo Adeleye of Israel side Hapoel Jerusalem and Uche Destiny Obiogumu of the youth team of German side Hoffenheim.
Furthermore the duo of Cyriel Dessers of Feyenoord and Emmanuel Dennis of Watford were both rewarded for their fine form this season with a spot in the list. While there is also a return for Victor Moses largely due to his fine form for Spartak Moscow.
