SKF Sered Nigerian goalkepper Matthew Yakubu has been voted the goalkeeper of the month in Slovakia after posting four consecutive clean sheets.

The 21 year old didn’t concede in the games against FK Senica, Ruzomberok and Sparta Trnava. He rounded up an impressive month with another clean sheet in the 8-0 Slovakian Cup win over SK Gbelany.

A member of the Nigeria U20 team of 2019 he has so far conceded just one goal since moving to SKF Sered towards the end of last season. He nailed down the first choice spot at the team in less than six months.

His performances haven’t gone unnoticed as he is now in prime position to be invited to the senior national team of Nigeria when they converge for their next set of international games in October.

Coach of the senior national team of Nigeria Gernot Rohr sees the 21 year old as a long term rival to the duo of Maduka Okoye and Francis Uzoho who are his preferred options for now.
