Out of favour Nigeria international forward Simy Nwankwo was last month the best striker in Europe’s top five leagues after scoring 8 goals in five games in the month of March.

His two goals against Napoli over the weekend earned him the title as it saw him move ahead of Bayern Munich forward Robert Lewandoski who has seven goals in the period under review.

Simy started the month with a goal against Atalanta before hitting a brace against Torino three days later. He followed that up with another brace against Lazio. He was once again on the scorers sheet against Bologna and ended the period under review with a brace against Napoli.

Real Madrid forward Karim Benzema is third with six goals with Leicester City Kelechi Iheanacho, Villarreal Gerard Moreno and Juventus Cristiano Ronaldo all in five goals each in the month under review.

Barcelona icon Lionel Messi ended the same period with four goals, four less than Simy who is surprisingly scoring goals for fun for a team that is struggling to stay in the Serie A.

With 15 goals this season, the 28 year old will no doubt bag a deal to continue playing in a top league even if Crotone goes down with Genoa rumored to be keen on signing him.
