Singer Portable reports himself to Ogun state police, granted bail

Controversial Nigerian singer, Habeeb Okikiola, popularly known as Portable, has finally honoured police’s invite over alleged assault.

The Ogun State Police Command had on June 20 instructed the music artiste to report himself to any of the stations in the state or face arrest after a viral video showed him telling some youths to beat up a young man and inflict bodily injury on him. Read here.

Portable did as instructed, and reported at the command’s headquarters in Eleweran, Abeokuta on Wednesday.

The spokesperson of the state police command, DSP Abimbola Oyeyemi, in a statement on Thursday revealed Portable reported at Eleweran at about 5pm on Wednesday, June 29 with his father and manager.

“He was immediately ordered to be taken to the public complain bureau office by the commissioner of police, CP Lanre Bankole, where he was interrogated about his role in the assault melted to the boy in the video.

However, since the offence committed is a bailable one, and couple with the strike action embarked upon by the civil servants in the state which also affected our courts, the suspect was released to a reliable surety who promised to produce him anytime he is needed.” The police spokesperson, Abimbola said/
