Coach of the senior national team of Nigeria Jose Peseiro says the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has offered him fresh terms to continue in his role as coach of the team, OwnGoalNigeria.com reports.

Peseiro who is currently in Cote d’Ivoire with the team campaigning in the Africa Cup of Nations, where they are through to the round of 16 and will play Cameroon on Saturday has a contract that is due to expire immediately after the tournament.

The coach who only signed an extension on reduced terms to cover the period of the tournament when his initial contract expired said the NFF have offered him an extension to his contract, but that he doesn’t want to .

“Am I going to continue leading the national team? I have a contract until the end of the CAN. They have already offered me a renewal, but I didn’t want to.” José Peseiro in statements to @sporttvportugal

It means he will probably walk away from the team when his current contract expires unless he has a change of mind. For now his immediate focus will be to lead the team to glory at the Africa Cup of Nations.
