Barring a last minute change of mind , coach of the senior national team of Nigeria Gernot Rohr has picked the duo of William Troost Ekong and Leon Balogun as his pair in central defence.

The coach has decided to go for the combination famously called “Oyibo Wall” with Semi Ajayi who has paired Ekong in the last two games moved into midfield.

Ekong paired Balogun in the qualifiers for the World Cup 2018 where Nigeria had a smooth ride to the tournament in Russia with many crediting the success on the strength of their defence.

Ajayi will take the role of injured Wilfred Ndidi forcing Rohr into making a decision on his pairing in defence. Kenneth Omeruo who was a regular at the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations drops to the bench.

Omeruo will alongside the duo of Chidozie Awaziem and Kevin Akpoguma be on the bench as back up during the course of the game but they could find themselves back in favour when they play against Tunisia on the 13th.
