Super Eagles To Face Egypt In AFCON 2021 Group D Opener

The senior national team of Nigeria have been drawn in group D of the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations which will take place in Cameroon in the just concluded draws for the tournament.

Nigeria’s first group game will be against Egypt with the other group games coming against fellow group D teams in Sudan and Guinea-Bissau as they aim to go a step further than the bronze they won at the 2019 edition.

Egypt is one of the team coach of the Nigerian team Gernot Rohr said he will love to avoid prior to the draws but he will take solace in the fact that they will be playing the Pharaohs first before engaging other weaker group opponents on paper.

Group A: Cameroon, Burkina Faso, Ethiopia, Cape Verde Islands

Group B: Senegal, Zimbabwe, Guinea, Malawi,

Group C: Morocco, Ghana, Comoros Islands, Gabon

Group D: Nigeria, Egypt, Sudan, Guinea-Bissau

Group E: Algeria, Sierra Leone, Equatorial Guinea, Côte d’Ivoire

Group F: Tunisia, Mali, Mauritania, The Gambia
