The ongoing CAF U20 Cup of Nations will reach the final group games tomorrow when the group that has the host play their last round of games ahead of the start of the knock out round of games.
All 12 teams have taken turn to play their games and at the moment the ones who are in with a chance of picking the four tickets available from the tournament to be a part of the U20 World Cup have started to emerge.
Aside the battle for a ticket to be at the World Cup, potential stars have also been noticed by scouts and agents after the games. Players development is the primary aim of the tournament. However some teams aren’t keen on using the tournament to groom budding stars.
Egyptian journalist Mahmoud Sa’id who has been covering the games has expressed his disappointment with the menace of age cheats alleging that around 75% of players at the tournament are way above the age limit.
” Look my friend, I have seen more men than boys at this tournament. I mean this is supposed to be a tournament for boys but some countries want to win at all cost and brought players who are way above the age limit”, he told OGN.
” CAF should do more in this regard. I saw the Nigerian team and I must say you people have conscience because the team is very young. A lot of us in Egypt wanted to see if it’s the same old thing we have heard about Nigeria but we saw a very young team. This is positive”, he rounded up saying.
