20 year old Tottenham Hotspur goalkeeper Joshua Oluwayemi has been handed a maiden call up to the senior national team of Nigeria ahead of their upcoming friendly game against Mexico in three days time.

Oluwayemi was called up as replacement for Ikechukwu Ezenwa who was ruled out of the trip for the game due to an injury which he failed to shake off during his stay with the team in their camp in Abuja.

The Spurs goalkeeper has represented England at U15 and U16 level but he won’t be requiring a switch of allegiance process as it is not considered a serious international level by FIFA.

Last season he kept goal in 12 Matthew for the Spurs U23 in the English Premier League 2 and he is well known for his ability in stopping penalty kicks all through his progress through the ranks at Spurs.

He will provide back up for the duo of Stanley Nwabali and John Noble, the other two goalkeepers in the squad for the game although there is still doubts over the fitness of the latter.
