Manchester United manager, Erik ten Hag, has claimed they beat off major competition to sign Mason Mount from Chelsea this summer.

The Red Devils reached an £60million agreement with their Premier League rivals.

On Wednesday, Mount made his United debut in a 2-0 win over Leeds United in a pre-season friendly.

After the game, Ten Hag spoke about the battle they faced from different clubs to sign the England midfielder.

“We worked so hard to get this done. I think so many clubs were looking out for Mason, to sign him, and we succeeded.

“We are happy with that, he brings something in the midfield department. He’s a great team player as well and he knows how to win,” Ten Hag told Viaplay.
