Transfer: Why I moved to Anderlecht, says Chelsea prospect Mendel-Idowu

Anderlecht have clinched the signing of Chelsea prospect Tudor Mendel-Idowu.

The attacker joins the Belgians in a free transfer after coming off contract at Chelsea last month.

Mendel-Idowu was also in talks with Barcelona.

However, he chose Anderlecht after first team assurances were offered, whereas Barca wanted him to spend the season with Barca Atletic.

He said, “It’s really exciting to be here. I was fascinated by the sporting project.

“I’m really looking forward to making my mark at this beautiful club.”

Mendel-Idowu has penned a deal to 2026 with Anderlecht – which includes a further 12 month option.
