Charly Boy at 70: Nigerian celebrities and other wishers on Saturday felicitated singer, songwriter and activist, Charles Chukwuemeka Oputa aka Charly Boy, as he celebrated his 70th birthday
Fondly called ‘Area Fada’, an excited Charly Boy took to Instagram on Saturday to share videos of notable persons celebrating him on his special day.
One of such wellwishers was Actor Yemi Solade, who described Charly Boy as a young man and sarcastically asked him how he managed to clock 70-years-old.
“I want to celebrate Charly Boy… Charles Chukwuemeka Oputa, at 70. This young man — I wonder how he is 70 now — is a singer, songwriter, television presenter, producer, and a married man.
“Happy birthday sir and may God grant you more energetic years on Earth. Enjoy your day sir.”
In the same vein, actor Timi Kuti disclosed that he has always regarded the musician as a hero who is passionate about the emancipation of the youth.
He said; “I just want to wish one of the heroes of our time, one of the passionate people about the continuity and emancipation of the youth, a freedom fighter, and a father to not just his own children but to many that he has inspired… I’m extremely delighted that you have lived this long to see this day.”
Filmmaker, Akin Alabi, said, “I want to say happy birthday to the area father. More blessings, more grace, and long life for you.”
