World football governing body FIFA has approved the switch to nationality of Leicester City star Ademola Lookman from England to Nigeria.

24 year old Lookman made a total of 31 appearances for England at various youth levels ranging from the U19 to U21 but he has since applied for a switch of nationality.

The forward is now free to play for Nigeria against Ghana in the world cup qualifiers playoff in March. He was included in the Super Eagles squad for the 2021 delayed Africa Cup of Nations but his switch wasn’t completed then.

Lookman will provide more options to coach of the senior national team of Nigeria Austine Eguavoen who will retain his interim position for the playoff in March despite crashing out of the AFCON in the round of 16.

On loan from RB Leipzig of Germany, he has scored five goals in 22 games in all competitions this season with three coming in 14 games in the English Premier League. Leicester City has an option of making the loan deal permanent at the end of the season.
