WTO: Ohanaeze reacts as Okonjo-Iweala emerges as Director General

Ohanaeze Ndigbo Youth Council, OYC, Worldwide, the umbrella body of Igbo youths, has hailed the emergence of Dr. Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, as the first female Director General of World Trade Organization, WTO.

Okonjo-Iweala, a former Nigeria Minister of Finance, hailed from Delta speaking Igbo and is married in Ohuhu Umuda Isingwu community of Umuahia North local Government Area in Abia State.

thedabigal reports that the former Minister of Finance, Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, has emerged as the Director-General of the World Trade Organization, WTO.

Iweala emerged winner of the highly competitive race after polling 104 votes from 164 member countries to defeat her opponent, South Korea’s trade minister, Yoo Myung-hee.

With the development, Iweala has become the first female and first African to occupy the office.
