When Yemi Alade describes herself as Mama Africa, she really isn’t joking. The singer’s reach across the continent and outside is massive.

A year ago the music video for her song “Johnny” was declared the most viewed music video by a Nigerian artist on YouTube.

Although it was shortly overtaken by Davido‘s “Fall,” the song has now passed the 100 million mark, making Yemi Alade the first female African artist to reach this milestone.

She shared the news on her Instagram, thanking her fans.
