The Chairman of the Yobe House of Assembly Committee on Education, Digma Maina Gama has threatened that his committee will sanction anyone found selling or buying instructional materials distributed to schools by the state government.

The lawmaker gave the warning when he joined the State Commissioner of Basic and Secondary Education in distributing books to 17 Local Government Education Secretaries, held in Damaturu.

He warned, “I will personally supervise schools in rural areas to ensure that they receive these materials”.

Gana also warned that any operator of a bookshop who buys the instructional materials will be sanctioned according to the laws of the land.

“All Education Secretaries should tighten their belts as it is not going to be business as usual, you must ensure that these materials get to the right schools”, he advised.
