Big Brother Naija star, Venita Akpofure, has caused a buzz with her response to a fan’s prayer for her to get married like her colleague and fellow single mother, Queen Mercy Atang.
Last weekend, Queen’s marriage was the talk of the internet after her traditional and legal marriage to her husband, King David, amidst controversy surrounding her child with skit maker Lord Lamba.
Following the wedding, a fan prayed for Venita, also a single mother of two children from her previous marriage, to find similar happiness soon.
In response, Venita acknowledged the prayer but also emphasized the importance of extending support to single mothers in general.
She said that she hopes that the women celebrating Queen’s marriage online will extend the same grace when their own sons and brothers bring home single mothers as wives.
Speaking from her experience, the reality TV star and actress highlighted the unfair judgment she often faces from women who don’t know her solely because she is a single mother.
Her words,
“Amen. I hope the women and mothers who support her extend that same grace in real life, especially If and when a GOOD woman who already has a child / children becomes the choice of affection of their sons and/or brothers
And yes I’m speaking from experience as a single mother with kids who is regularly demonised by other women (who don’t know me personally) online”
