The Plateau State Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, NSCDC, says it has deployed 2,500 personnel ahead of the Christmas and New Year celebrations in the state.

The Public Relations Officer of the corps, Nanko Rimvyok, made this disclosure in a statement on Sunday in Jos.

Rimvyok said the deployment aimed at ensuring a peaceful and violent free celebration in all parts of the state.

According to her, the deployed personnel, comprising cover and physical duties, would secure lives and property and critical national assets and infrastructure.

She quoted the Commandant of the corps, Mr Alexander Barunde, as urging residents of the state to be law abiding and be Christ-like during the celebrations.

”The commandant warn mischief makers to sheath their plans as law enforcement agencies will leave no stone unturned until they are brought to book and dealt with decisively when caught,” she said.

The Commandant also admonished residents to support all the security agencies in their bid toward ensuring lasting peace and security in the state
