The team doctor of Italian Serie A side Napoli says Nigeria international striker Victor Osimhen will move into the second phase of his rehabilitation from the face injury he sustained two weeks ago.

Osimhen underwent successful surgery and he is expected to return to full fitness in three months time and according to Doctor Raffaele Canonico he is set to move into the next step of his rehabilitation next week.

He however stressed that the forward will be needing facial mask due to the fact that he is recovering from multiple fractures saying a decision on his return to full action will be made  when his body and mental state is good enough for contact.

Osimhen? The post-operation is going well. He is training on a bike and carpet from home. At the beginning of next week he will start working on the pitch and we will take new x-rays to understand how the calcification of the fractures proceeds”, Canonico Napoli’s team doctor, told Kiss Kiss Napoli on the Radio Goal broadcast:

“You can train without contact with the ball but you have to understand when his body will allow him to hit the ball with his head. He has had multiple fractures and the mask will need to be studied well. great mental strength, Victor, and he won’t be afraid to go back to seeking physical contact with others and with the ball”, he concluded.
